The Redwood Creek Trail provides visitors an opportunity to walk down Redwood Creek from Muir Woods to Muir Beach. The trail itself follows the creek and showcases the area's flora and fauna. The creek has provided life for countless generations of peoples including the Native American Coast Miwok Tribe who settled the area and thrived for hundreds of years. Redwood Creek is a vital artery for the coho salmon runs which take place during the winter.
