Accessible from the French Gulch Road Trailhead in northern Breckenridge, this trail leads to the historic ruins of the Sallie Barber Mine. During the gold rush of the late 1800s, Breckenridge was at the forefront of the mining boom. Only a small percentage of prospectors struck it rich, but that didn't deter those whose desire for gold outweighed the hardships of mining life. Several interpretive signs accompany the ruins at Sallie Barber and this mine is in better shape than most.
