Rocky Mountain National Park holds over 150 subalpine and alpine lakes, many of which are accessible by moderate day hikes on well-maintained trails. The Park ranges from 7,860' - 14,259' across 5 ecosystems and sub-systems. These distinct but interconnected life zones support deer, elk, bear, moose, mountain lion, bighorn sheep and mountain goat.
